x2 for not powerwashing.
back in the days when there weren't all these sensors running around in the engine bay you could get away with it. nowadays a powerwasher is liable to knock something loose or break something

u dont have to cover up anything when you power wash it turn your engine on and wash it then leave engine on until all of the water is gone that all. i used to power wash engines all the time at the garage i worked so dont wary no damage will be done

I've sprayed my engine off a few times. Pulled my spark plugs last fall and noticed a lot of the powdery surface rust, presumably from this, from the cylinders the plugs are recessed into. I took my engine cover off a long time ago.

You should cover up your air intake and any electrical components you might think will get damaged by the washer

Don't put any water on/in/near your engine bay. Don't be lazy and clean it properly.

the easiest way to clean the engine bay is to either not do it..... ever (My Personal Choice) or pay somebody else to do it....
if you are going to do it, just cover the air filter

I just did this the other day. I covered the alternator and air filter with a dish towel. Then i sprayed simple green concentrate on everything in the engine bay. Waited about 5 minutes. Then rinsed everything off with low pressure hose. Then I started it and let it run for a few minutes so everything could dry. Looks awesome. Best and safest way to clean the engine bay in my opinion.
