Since they are sharing almost same parts and I can get at least $7000 off from buying a vibe. It's very attractive price! So question is: Is Vibe same reliable as Matrix? Thanks!

mechanically they are the same... just assembled in different plants.
the vibe comes from NUMMI in California, the vibe comes from TMMC in Ontario.

I don't know where to find it, but you can probably get info about which plant usually makes more reliable products.

The powertrains and mechanicals are preassembled from japan so GM has no fingers in the engines. Buy the Vibe, can't go wrong with the savings and will still have a warranty for what ever comes up, but they are just as good as the Matrix. In the end you may lose on resale, but if you plan on keeping it no problem. want to know more about the Vibe check out genvibe.com

I bought my 09 vibe since 2008-10-11 and currently at 12500 kms....

Beside TSB fix, I have no other issues with it...

The car seems bumpy, but I think that applies to matrix as well....

I would say is fairly reliable car! My gf's 08 civic so far has more non TSB/recall issue than my vibe!

I would buy the vibe if you can save that much money. The reason I went with the vibe is because I ended up with the GT model for the price of the matrix s model. The vibe also comes with onstar if that is important to you. One more perk of the vibe was the 5 year/100000 mile drivetrain warranty.

im not sure how the toyota recalls are affecting the Vibe. But totally regret geting my 09 trix S AWD, i compromised getting into the toyota matrix S awd over getting a 08 subaru impreza because i thought the toyota would be the safer, reliable and easier to own car. Sometimes i feel like im driving a "kitchen appliance" and now to make matters worst everytime my wife or i get in it with our kids, im also worried about the gas pedal going crazy on me and sending me straight through a wall, car or person.

If i was you i would wait out on your car purchase a bit and see if toyota indeed fixes the gas pedal issue.
