My wife injured her knee Feb this year during skiing. Turns out as the weather gets colder, she feels pain again driving the GT 6 speed.
The car is literally solid with 110K miles. Bought it from first owner (friend in Tacoma WA), and has been trouble free. Everything on the vehicle works & performs, nothing needs to be fixed. Few minor upgrades:
- 17" nice after market rims (Falken Zexius 215/50 rubber)
- 1.2" lowered on Tein H-tech (OEM springs available)
- 2.25" custom catback exhaust (magnaflow SS resonator & muffler, nice SS tip)
- Upgraded sound system (Alpine speakers & Pioneer HU with USB/ipod)
- Progress RSB (OEM available)
- SRI (ebay tube, K&N filter, OEM intake available)
- Plexiglass fog light protectors

Dont want to go thru the hasstle of selling this and then finding another one in decent condition. Best car I've owned, love the design & practicality. Personally, I will never part with 6 speed, but wife dont want to drive this now. So exploring the possibility of a swap with auto, so my wife can continue enjoying. If you have an auto Vibe or Matrix, and interested in taking a look at this one, have any questions, or need more pics, let me know. I prefer 6 speed auto XRS, but cant be too picky right now.

Very nice car. Sorry to hear about your wife's knee. The XRS auto is a 4 speed I believe, not 6. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

me likey. too bad you have to get rid of it. I would buy an auto beater for the wife to drive in the winter. Thats what i plan on. Keeping the trix in the garage and salt free.

This is correct. The automatic transmission in the 03 auto xrs (u240e) is a different transmission from the XR/base (a246e), but it's still a 4 speed automatic.

In reply to your looking for an AT Vibe or Matrix GT/Xrs. Even though there are a few out there, the AT was discontinued due to problems with the torque converter and AT taking the power of the 2zzge power plant. If you are open for it, I would strongly consider an AT XR Matrix, or comparable Vibe with the 1zz engine. You arent going to experience possible issues that have been experienced with the AT + 2zzge engine.

There are a ton of beautiful XR Matrix's out there for sale/trade.

Just trying to shed a little possibility on the situation.

Post an add on craigslist and in your local paper and then wait it out I guess. Otherwise, maybe try going to a dealer and seeing if you can talk them into something.

I would have done that, but I always thought that people posting on CL are mostly interested in getting money for their car. For financial reasons, or to get into something totally different.
If nothing works, I will post on CL as second option, and talk to dealers as last option

let your wife drive the SUV in the garage... and enjoy the 6 speed thru winter. Or sell me the vibe for cheap.

you can post up on craigslist that you are looking for a car trade. sometimes there are other people who look through to find cars for trading rather than cash deals.
