Again wassup every1. Well I recently started to read about modding our engine and found some great and not so great stuff. In this post I want to talk about a grounding kit. Specifically a Lineage grounding kit. They are pretty much universal using 4 Ga cable and claims that it is true Oxygen free cabling. Also claims of the ends being dipped in platinum and heat shrunken to give long lasting reliable current. They claim that most of their competition uses 8 guage cable and that they use 4 gauge. The dyno's that are shown at the manufacter website show small if any gains. I am not so much worried about the gains but do these thinsg really work?? DOes anyone have a set installed on their ride? I know there are some home made kits threads but The way i see it at the price that these things are at now, it would be cheaper for me to just buy a set and install myslef, especialy if they are constructed with premium products. Anyways, what do you guys think give it a go or say hell no!! (HA! cheezy way to end it!!)
http://www.speedmethodperformance.com/prod...roundingkit.htm or http://www.tprmag.com/issue/8/8_elec_stab.shtml These websites I found during a surf on the product. I do want to mention that I was reading threads on a subaru website about these lineage kits and they said they are pretty damn good. Folks were handing over 90 bux + shipping in their GB. Lots of ppl were jumping on these like inmates on cheap hookers. Tell me what ya think.. This post has been edited by Silverdrgn: Mar 6 2007, 03:42 PM |

LOL! I have a set being delivered tomorrow via UPS. I will be installing these along with a bunch of other stuff when I have my spring cleaning and modding weekend in a couple weeks. I will post my results then.
You can get them a lot cheaper on Ebay: http://stores.ebay.com/CarPartsBMe_Electro...8QQftidZ2QQtZkm Colors: Carbon, Silver, Yellow, Red or Blue This post has been edited by BlueCrush: Mar 6 2007, 04:19 PM |

Yup. It took longer to get them to me though because he had them on order with the manufacturer and had to wait for them to come in. He has them in stock now though so shipping should be fairly quick.

Well I said Fu*k it and went ahead and got the grounding kit. The guy is kooler than a fan and responded quickly to all my questions. If your in the market for some grounding kits these are not a bad deal from what I have read. I cannot make any outlandish claims since i do not have them installed or anything but from what I read they are good to go. Did some reading on a subaru forum on these and like I said ppl were jumpin on them like rabid kids on a fleeing Barney. The electrical gains alone are worth the mod I think. Even if i get no HP gains, knowing that my electrical system will run better than factory standards is good for me. Check out the link that was posted by Blue Crush^^^

Will do bro. I don;t think I will be able to dyno test them out. Money is real short and I don;t know fo any dyno machines here in Lubbock Tx. I can sure tell you how the "feel" of the car improves. Having driven the trix for four yrs now I know all the noises, creaks, shortcommings of how it "feels" Rest assured I will post up pix and all that when I am done (IMG:http://matrixowners.com/style_emoticons/default/good.gif)

I really wouldnt waste my money on them, everything in the engine bay is grounded out just fine and I tested the ground with a professional quality multimeter and there is barely any resistance in the system. If I recall I didnt get more than .3 Ohms from anything to the negative battery terminal, but every car is different and I have seen people with enough oh,s where a grounding kit can make a difference. I would just rent a multimeter and test your car first.

That is a pretty good idea cuz. It is too late for me though, I already bought the kit. But I am hopefull that I it will be a good investment. I will be putting in alot of electronics in the very near future so It may just be better for me to beef up the electrical system where ever possible. Thanks for the suggestion it is a good one. Wish me luck!!

oh yeh I agree then, but for some reason the ground on my car was installed top notch, I even bought high quality speaker wire(same continuity as grounding kits) and nothing changed. but its a cheap way to get 5hp on some cars

I installed my Lineage Ground Wire Kit this past weekend. It is a 5 wire, 4 gauge kit. Nice, high quality kit for only $45 on Ebay. Here is how I wired mine:
From driver's side chassis: (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/FoilFencer/Dscn2685.jpg) To Negative battery terminal: (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/FoilFencer/Dscn2686.jpg) To Tranny: (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/FoilFencer/Dscn2687.jpg) To rear valve cover: (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/FoilFencer/Dscn2688.jpg) To passenger's side chassis: (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/FoilFencer/Dscn2689.jpg) To Alternator bracket: (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/FoilFencer/Dscn2690.jpg) And here is an overall pic: (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/FoilFencer/Dscn2691.jpg) Yes, I have the intake tubes from a TRD S/C kit (from the TB to the airbox and from the airbox to just behind the fog light). It makes the intake much quieter while giving me the same power I had with a Cosmo SR or the Ebay CAI. And I got my torque back that was lost when I had the SR or CAI. Nice Clean work Blue! I can't wait till the weekend gets here so that I can see if I will have a chance to install mine too. I am also gonna do my alternator since I am gonna be in the engine bay. Hopefully I can do the Tensioner pulley in about two weeks. It will be a three day weekend then. How does your ride feel now? Are you getting better idles, takeoff, system sound etc... What is your judgement of the kit? Damn, Now I wish I would have gotten the Silver kit instead of the black one. I think the black will be ok though, not flashy but ok.

FWIW, I have dyno tested my Grounding/voltage Kit (Apexi Versa Cruise) and found that it does add about (on average) 3hp/3flb torque on a 2ZZ.

Overall the idle, shifting and acceleration seems smoother.
I am getting less static on a couple radio stations also. |
