First off, our 06 matrix is an absolute POS. I have never been so pissed at a car or a manufacturer. I have the faulty charcoal canister and now the rear end started whining 2 days ago. I've got a copy of the TSB but the viscous coupling assembly is worth $2100 plus taxes which is insanity!
I can get the bearings and seals for about $100 and it looks like it's serviceable. I don't see why just replacing the bearings in the VC wouldn't repair the noise. I just don't understand how the Viscous coupler would make noise as it doesn't really turn, it's the bearings that turn.
