Mwr Sti Maf Sensor On Matrix
18 January 2013 - 06:40 AM
Has any one tried this:
Subaru STi MAF airmeter - Toyota 2ZZ 1ZZ turbo - Used
[SUB-STIMAF] m75.00
Turbocharged or supercharged 2ZZ and 1ZZ engines tend to max out the factory MAF (mass air sensor) beyond a certain power level depending on your MAF pipe size. Approximate Toyota MAF limits:
2.5" - 275whp
2.75" - 350whp
3" - 400whp
A popular modification is to upgrade to the MAF found in the Subaru STi. We supply a used sensor that has been cleaned and tested. Air meters don't wear out and these units retail for $269 new so save yourself some serious cash!
Advantages:
STi MAF has a different calibration and will read much higher air flow without maxing out.
Allows you to run the 2.5" or 2.75" MAF pipe that your turbo or supercharger system came with, now with a higher flow limit.
Bolts right in to your existing Toyota MAF flange and plugs in to your stock connector, no modification needed.
Better resolution at low flow rates for better idle and driveability
Better resolution at high flow rates- tuning near the MAF limit can be imperfect and does not allow any margin for error.
IMPORTANT- Because the calibration of this sensor is different it does require that your engine management is tunedto match to ensure correct air fuel mixture. This MAF will not increase the power output of your engine and is not intended for naturally aspirated applications because it offers no benefits without forced induction.
