Hello all, I purchased a 2011 Matrix last weekend. It has the 1.8 engine and I was wondering if it had a timing belt or chain? Didn't find any mention of it in the Owners Manual so I almost assume it has a chain. I  know that in 06 Mazda started using chains in their MX-5 (miata) so I was wondering if Toyota has started doing the same? Looking forward to working with you all. Yes, I'm from the South. Anything I should know about, any quirks with this model. Thanks in advance, Tom   (aka docjones)

Thanks Captain, that is great news. I too used to have a Pathfinder (2003) until it was totaled about three weeks ago. That is the reason for the Matrix. Always like the looks and we all know not much better than a Toyota or a Nissan and maybe a Honda.    Tom
