Just fantasying about selling the ole Matrix and modding my Pontiac G8gt. Damn this hobby is expensive... Anyway, most of you know my trix's mods but for those that don't, check out my garage at http://matrixowners....age__tab__mods.

If I recoup half of what I spent on parts + KBB that totals $25,000. That's a ballpark figure I'm willing to negotiate from.

Serious offers only. Don't waste our time with lowball or non-serious offers.

Thanks.

Wasn't work or effort on my part, just headaches and heaps of $$$. I think labor costs rivaled the parts cost.

First phase of the g8 overhaul is replacing the stereo system. I have most of the parts. Still need to buy the rest and pay for install.

Performance-wise, I want to start with a mild cam, headers, x-pipe, CAI and tune; $7k installed and should produce ~400rwhp. I'd love to replace the engine intake and engine heads and upgrade the brakes but that's an additioanl 4k in parts alone. Either, way, plan is to keep it naturally aspirated.

Unfortunately, your chances if netting anywhere near 25k for that car is almost impossible. Not that it isn't worth it, more that there isn't a market for it.

Good luck, anyway.

you're better off parting it out completely down - sourcing a junkyard drivetrain and selling it as stock and then selling the rest of your parts

it's ALWAYS cheaper to buy then build, but dnm is right... there's no one who wants it

these people are right, and not to burst a bubble but for about 25k one could get a newer STi, which is a better deal overall than a boosted matrix but non the less good luck with everything and if you part out I could "possibly" be interested in the turbo setup & hood depending on price,

Well aware about selling heavily modified cars especially something as niche as a Matrix, but I have 0 motivation to part out something that finally works. Just posting here because it's the right audience and free. I had no real expectations it would sell but just hoping for a chance in hell I'd get a respectable offer to really consider.

keep trying though, don't give up... there's people out there who ARE willing to pay for a built car rather than building it their selves... I read a story about a man who bought a built AE86 because he didn't have time to build one himself, so there's possibility to find someone out there who wants it.

if anyone out there wants a 300whp 1zz matrix - buy this car and you'll save money and time

not a single build ever has taken less than multiple years, and most guys end up parting out or selling - read newcelica, it's all horror stories and a black hole of depression

you can have it turn key in a week

good luck man, but if i were you i'd dump the american boat and just enjoy the matrix

Thanks for the plug 1337trix. I definitely had my "turbo woes" building this 1zz. Took my 4+ years hence the reason I broke down and bought the g8.

On a positive note, I drove her to work today (she's driven once a week on avg) and dropped her down to 3rd on interstate to change lanes and damn she scared me.

The next mod I was going to do on the trix was upgrade the springs/retainers, fuel return system so I could up the boost. TTA already posted plots showing the trix could produce over 400whp with the 3071 that's on there now.

Why keep the g8? I'm pushing 40 and the idea of driving a "ricer looking" sports car is for the young. The g8 is more my style plus I love the leather heated seats. Having two cars really is overkill and full insurance on two sucks. I can save $1,200/year if I dropped insurance on the trix. No, I don't want to drop down to liability only, if I did that, if my luck, I'd get into an accident.

So, another shameless plug for a 6-speed 1zz producing 317whp. Rebuilt engine and new transmission. Drivetrain seen under 5k miles so it's practically new. Brand new Hankook's too (bought in April).

my dads near 60 now, he drives a sicccck DA integra - it makes the fanboys wet

nothing wrong with an older guy in a nice car.... its no different now than it was in the 60's early 70's - we see a Chevelle SS and expect an old guy driving it cause thats who drove those cars when they were young

i'd expect to see a 60 year old man driving a Type-R all mugen'd out when i'm 60 too

Good luck dOOd. I would usually hate GM and mock them, but the G8 is one of those rare GM cars I'd actually consider so I understand why you'd want to stick with the G8. Nice car. It's Australian with a GM badge after all.

Honestly keep it. That's like a trophy you can hand off to your kids. Plus enjoy some fun from time to time. That was always something I wanted to do, but no money or time. Keep it. Well worth the money and time and effort put into it, IMHO.

Just found my new wish list of upgrades for the g8. Everything I said up top (minus CNC head) plus maggie supercharger. $15k installed including vehicle transport; 550+rwhp. The matrix would be out of its league. Sad part is I sank a lot more money into the matrix than $15k.
