so my gf drove over what looks o have been a plastic bag and the heat of the exhaust got it stuck on the piping. now almost the whole cat back has plastic melted onto it and after driving for more than 15 minutes it smells. now what would be the easiest way of getting it off?. i know i can try scrapping it off little by little but it would take way too long. any suggestions?

You have to scrape it of while it's warm man. PITA!

Get that exhaust nice and hot then use a steel putty knife to scrape it off. Make sure you wear some gloves/mitts when handling that exhaust though. Or like danimal86 said, just deal with it. It will eventually melt away.

Yeah, if you don't wanna scrape, just deal with the smell. It will eventually burn completely off. Take a nice drive up/down the coast on a hot day, that should take care of most of it ;)

Drive that b**** hard and it will burn right off.s*** will get real hot after wot for awhile.otherwise some diesel might take it right off. I melted sOme plastic on my dads Harley exhaust pipe and it came right off with a little rub down with diesel.of course it would be advisable to do that when the pipes cold lol

don't know if this will work, but freeze it to make it brittle... start at the edges and work your way in breaking off chunks.

spray it with that air in a can stuff held upside down.
