The check engine light came ON last week. I tried using my ODB2 scanner but it comes back with "err" when I link it up. I've never seen this happen before. Any ideas?

The dealer installed the electronic anti rust gadget when I purchased the car. I don't know if that would have anything to do with it. I also checked the fuel cap and the check engine light didn't go out. I don't have the remote start on my car either.

It means your scanner is a piece of s*** that doesn't do CANbus. Get one that doesn't suck and try again.

I'm going to guess p0440.
