You will only be able to take advantage of parking mode if you supply it with constant power. Our cigarette lighters only give power when the key is in ACC or when the car is on, so we won't be able to use it unless you hook it up directly to a constant 12v source, perhaps somewhere in the fuse box. Supposedly the internal battery is only for it to shut off safely and save the recording once 12v source is cut off. Once in parking mode, it records if there is motion or if the actual gyro sensor ( Dunno if im using the correct term) threshold gets tripped. ie. if someone stuff moves past the camera or if your car gets shaken or bumped it'll start recording. And I guess if it detects movement or motion long enough it will engage into normal recording mode again. From the forum where I got mine from, some people are reporting heat issues with the blackvue. People that use parking mode have seem to run into problems with the camera overheating or randomly restarting.
I personally don't have it hardwired to a 12v source but only to the cig lighter.

Details: This video was taken with a Kodak Play Sport Zx5 (set to 1080p record mode). As you can see the weather conditions were poor which caused the auto focus on the camera to continuously search for something to focus on. All in all the camera is great for light on the go recording, but I wouldn't recommend using it as a dedicated dashcam. On another note, I know my driving sucks, but idgaf. I've been driving like this for more than 15 years and I don't see it changing (for the better) any time soon.
