Hi just bought a 06 Matrix xrs a couple of weeks ago and figured i should say hi. Does anyone know how to bleed a clutch, cause my catch point seems low, or do you think i may need a new clutch? Its kinda weird and feels soft but it does not seem to be slipping its just not grabbing solid in my opinion. Thanks for your help.

low engagement is normal if the clutch isnt oem or is heavy
speed source makes a pushrod that slots in at the slave cylinder and moves the engagement point higher

Howzit Ahi!
If there's too much free play at the clutch pedal, you can adjust some of it out with a wrench. Be careful, though. You need a minimum amount of free play, so the throwout or release bearing isn't riding on the clutch, when your foot is off the pedal.
If you look under the dash where the clutch pedal pivots, there an adjustment rod with a lock nut. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjustment rod so it "lengthens" a bit. This will raise the catch point of the clutch pedal. There should be about 3/4" to 1" of pedal free play.

What is it that you want to accomplish? You said that the clutch wasn't slipping. If all you want to do is change the "catch point", I'd play with the clutch pedal adjustment. We changed the pedal adjustment on godofturismo3's ride and it made a noticeable improvement.

I'm skeptical about this. I have the extended pushrod in my car, but I don't notice any difference whatsoever. It's a self-adjusting hydraulic slave cylinder, and I'm moderately sure it just adjusts itself back to where it was after you put the extended pushrod in.
I'm not flat out denying it does anything, I'm just not sure if it does or not.

Thanks for the replies, but the catch point is really high and it feels like in first gear its not grabbing right but it kinda feels like i have to ride the clutch in first. I know how to drive a manual car i been doing it for over 10 years, it just feels weird, and was wondering if it sounds like i need a new clutch or just an adjustment. Sorry for the confusion, but thanks for your guys help.
