Decided to start my projector retrofit project today.......... got 1 headlight torn apart, was planning on painting some of the chrome trim in the inner housing but quickly realized the chrome is as fragile as the skull on a newborn........damn Taiwanese manufacturers!

2009 Matrix S 50k miles, Classic Silver Black Interior, Auto, mostly stock with a few minor appearance mods.......

Upgrades: 18x8.5 Konig Kilogram Wheels 35 Offset, Pirelli P Zero Nero 245/40R18, 15mm Rear Spacers, 6000k License Plate Bulbs, Hyper White Interior Lighting, Clarion CX501 Head Unit, 15% Window Tint, GMC G3500 horn, 131,188 Coats Of Carnauba Wax And Counting........

Mods in the works: Projector retrofit project, blacking out some of the inner housing chrome trim, will be disabling DRL...

Gone but not forgotten: 2003 Matrix XRS VVTL-i 282k miles, Lunar Mist (silver) Black Interior, 6spd. mostly stock with a few minor appearance mods.......

Well... that was quick. Light is out again...

replaced the burnt gear indicator bulb with a LED. put in a new bulb about a year ago... hopefully the LED will last longer.

This also happened (last week)... but don't worry, the trix will be staying. lol
Ready to take on the winter!

Having LED projector headlights on this is itching me to do a retro fit on the trix.

Just a heads up for those of you performing a retrofit project on aftermarket headlights...... If you plan to paint "some" of the chrome inner trim be extremely careful when masking.... I thought I played it safe using the yellow frog tape but the chrome still peeled on certain areas along with the tape......very frustrating......

Met up w/ VIP Freak this weekend and took his MR-S for a spin, & I'm impressed for two reasons.

1: The stock 1ZZ is pretty good in this car!  Low end torque is fun.  I get why people say you don't NEED a 2ZZ in it now...

2: An un-modified MR-S is SO MUCH MORE SECURE than the tinkered thing I have.  No mysterious rattles, missing trim panels, cut-off center consoles, wondering if my clutch is supposed to feel the way it does...it just feels like a well-put-together car.

Chrome peeled off!?  That sucks.  I used blue tape to mask and never had any problems with the masked off chrome.

^ The yellow frog tape is less tacky than the blue masking tape, I also usually use the blue masking tape on most projects, let me put it this way, I had to be SUPER  careful when wiping some of the chrome trim with a microfiber as the chrome was wiping off...... :bigeyedsmiley:

Anyhow, after a couple of weeks working on them for short periods of time between work and family I got them done..... simple tear apart of aftermarket headlights, painted the main basket black, clear coated , dremeled several areas for projector fitment and done deal, the end result.....

During rotational alignment.....

Since I'm pretty much done modding the trix, I've moved on to modding the mr2.

I have a plan to reuse the original '02 bumper inserts. The stock exhaust is even louder now. Lol...

Nice projector retrofit. Really looks good in there.

@ thebarber, I think the size of your garage qualifies as a small warehouse.
