Hi,
I have noticed something strange developing in the last 3-4 months.
If I got a cd playing and I hit the brakes at 30mph+, I get a weird spinning noise.
I tested braking with the cd off, no noise. Turn cd player back on, the noise comes up again.
I am weirded out. Passengers in my cars have noticed the exact same and my uncle, being a mechanic, is also baffled by it.
Any ideas? Should I drop by my friendly dealer for a check up?
Also, is that deck supposed to become searing hot?
Thanks
cd player and braking noise

sounds like the noise is coming from the CD player. not sure what that noise would be though. and yea, its supposed to be hot.

is it worse under hard braking? if so, the CD might be going off balance and vibrating against the player housing

Yes, the harder I brake, the harder the noise gets. I does sound as if the cd goes off balance but should it not go off balance when I slow down using compression. Unless compression doesn't tip the balance of the car...
At any rate, if the negative angle given to the car by braking makes the cd go off balance, should they replace it under warranty (the deck, not the car
)?
Thanks

Some early '03's with the single disc Delco/Delphi HU experienced something called "CD grinding". It usually happens under braking or hard cornering with a CD playing. If you are still under warranty it should be taken care of at no cost to you.
